- How do I make a reservation?
Help me understand the rate schedule !
Here is how the rates work. If one person rides from, for example, Split Rock Wayside to Beaver Bay; the charge is $15. Extend the ride from Split Rock to Silver Bay and the charge is now $20. Beaver Bay is considered one stop and Silver Bay is considered two stops.
A child receives a $5 discount for the entire ride. So a child rate in the above examples would be $10 and $15, respectively.
Continuing with the above example, the charge for one adult from Split Rock Wayside to Hwy 1 is $25, to Hwy 6 $30. The Finland stop would not be counted unless the hiker planned to hike there. The Finland stop is out of order in terms of the south-to-north progression of trailheads. Therefore, it is treated a bit differently. Now if one were to hike from State Hwy 1 to the Caribou Wayside, both the Finland and Hwy 6 trailheads are included in the fare, since both are included in the hike.
Trips to and from Crosby-Manitou State Park usually require an extra fee since it is a 20-25 minute round trip, outside the regular schedule, from Finland. Trips to Judge Magney State Park are usually $25 from Grand Marais. Trips to County 58, County 14 and Kadunce River are pro-rated.
Outside the regular Fri-Sun schedule, trips become more expensive. A trip from Two Harbors to Judge Magney will cost $100 for one person and slightly more for additional persons. A trip to Otter Lake Rd, only available outside the regular schedule, would add at least $25 to the above prices. Any trip on an off day will probably cost at least double the normal rate. Check with the shuttle manager for more details: 218-834-5511. Scheduling a trip on an off day depends on the service being able to provide a driver for that trip, which could be probelmatic.
